Toronto’s Shore Starting from Humber Bay

    • We’ll likely start at Humber Bay or Colonel Sam Smith where there is generally a good variety of ducks, geese and swans. We’ll walk the area in search of lingering winter birds and early migrants. We may also visit other parks based upon recent reports. If all is frozen then we’ll concentrate on northern gulls.
    • Otto Peter and John Stirrat will lead.
    • Meet to car pool at the old GO Station parking lot off Simcoe Street South near the Highway 401 on-ramp. Parking is available at the side farthest from the street.
    • Check the weather forecast and dress accordingly.

Saturday, April 21, 6:00 AM
Algonquin Park

    • Algonquin Park offers an assortment of birds that we are unlikely to see in Durham. These include winter finches, Black-backed Woodpecker, Spruce Grouse, Boreal Chickadees and Gray Jays.
    • OFO Trip leader is Ron Tozer.
    • Meet at 6:00 am at the Pickering GO station (Bayly and Liverpool) to carpool and travel to Algonquin or meet at 9:00 a.m. at the West Gate of the Park. There is an entrance fee for each vehicle.
    • Check the weather forecast and dress accordingly.
    • This trip involves a lot of driving. There will be short walks and footing may be challenging depending on weather conditions.
    • Bring a lunch. (We may drop into the Visitor’s centre which has a cafeteria.)

    • Check the weather forecast and dress accordingly.
    • Bring binoculars and field guides. This is a half-day outing.
